2017 Fairhope Elderberry FestivalThe Fairhope Museum of History is hosting the 9th annual Fairhope Elderberry Festival Saturday, August 12, 2017. Fans of the humble yet delicious elderberry will enjoy demonstrations, tastings, a pie-eating contest, music and more!

Elderberries. They may not get much press but the elderberry fruit is a pretty amazing thing. Did you know that the elderberry has five times more antioxidants than the blueberry? It’s true. Elderberries are also said to be effective in calming a cough. Test indicate that elderberries can even promote bone health, eliminate excess cholesterol, and reduce wrinkles.

Another positive effect of elderberries, perhaps the most exciting one, is the annual Fairhope Elderberry Festival.

Alabama’s Mobile-Tensaw Delta is a unique, natural confluence of fresh and salt water with 250,000 acres of scenic waterways, woods, and wetlands. Visitors to 5 Rivers can explore trails, kayak, picnic, and more!

The Mobile-Tensaw Delta is where the Mobile, Spanish, Tensaw, Apalachee, and Blakeley rivers flow into Mobile Bay. This merging of fresh and salt waters has created a complex network of tidally-influenced creeks, rivers, bays, lakes, and bayous.

There are over 500 kinds of plants here, 126 species of fish, and more than 300 species of birds! The area also supports 30 species of amphibians, 69 species of reptiles, and 40 species of mammals. To say that the Mobile-Tensaw Delta is teeming with life is an understatement.

Visit Blakeley State Park – The South’s Loveliest Ghost Town

Blakeley State ParkBlakeley State Park is both the site of the last major battle of the Civil War and considered by many to be the site of the South’s loveliest ghost town.

Blakeley State Park, located north of Spanish Fort in Baldwin County, Alabama is many things all at once.

Primarily, it is a 3,800-acre public park on Alabama’s Tensaw River delta. The park has over 10 miles of walking, bicycling, and horseback riding trails. There is also a quarter-mile of waterfront boardwalk with two observation decks on the Tensaw River.

Celebrate The 28th Annual Eastern Shore Jubilee Festival

28th annual Eastern Shore Jubilee Festival 2016Come to Olde Town Daphne on September 24th and 25th, 2016 for the 28th annual Eastern Shore Jubilee Festival. This free event offers juried fine arts and crafts, live music, great food, and more!

An Eastern Shore tradition, Jubilee Festival celebrates the community of Daphne, the Eastern Shore, and all of Baldwin County, AL! This arts and crafts show is a sister event to the older Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival, held annually the third weekend in March.

This two-day event brings artisans from around the country to display and sell their one-of-a-kind goods at over 130 booths! The Jubilee Festival is a juried exhibition, offering more than 50 awards in cash and ribbons. Consequently, you’ll find only high quality goods worthy of your attention at the show.

More than just arts and crafts, the Jubilee also means live music. This year’s artists have yet to be announced but past years have included great, regional talent that kept the heart light and toes a-tapping!

Browsing through all the amazing art will give a person an appetite. Luckily, the annual Jubilee Festival also includes a food court offering a wide selection of delicious food and drink from local chefs and merchants. There will also be various food and drink vendors scattered amongst the artisan booths. You will not go hungry!
