Visit Blakeley State Park – The South’s Loveliest Ghost Town

Blakeley State ParkBlakeley State Park is both the site of the last major battle of the Civil War and considered by many to be the site of the South’s loveliest ghost town.

Blakeley State Park, located north of Spanish Fort in Baldwin County, Alabama is many things all at once.

Primarily, it is a 3,800-acre public park on Alabama’s Tensaw River delta. The park has over 10 miles of walking, bicycling, and horseback riding trails. There is also a quarter-mile of waterfront boardwalk with two observation decks on the Tensaw River.

Part of the National Estuarine Research Reserves System’s 28 different biogeographic regions of the United States, Weeks Bay Nature Reserve provides long-term research, water-quality monitoring, education, and coastal stewardship.

The most immediate benefit, of course, is that Weeks Bay Nature Reserve is open to visitors and an absolutely wonderful place for those who enjoy the unspoiled, natural world!
